Using an Inkjet Printer
The essentials Inkjet printers are getting better all the time. To get quality prints with the least amount of "fiddling" with the printer always use inks and paper from the manufacturer of the printer. To make things more interesting there are alternatives to using OEM paper and ink...Here is a link to an article I wrote a few years ago about paper and ink, most of the links still work...

When making inkjet prints, the one way is to let the printer handle the color management and let the printer driver decide how the colors in your picture will print. But, you just used Photoshop to enhance the photo... you should let Photoshop manage the colors...
When you are ready to make prints, decide who is controlling the color management and what color profiles you are using. When when you are setting up the parameters for printing be aware of what you addressing in Photoshop CS3 and CS4
The procedure is different and easier in Photoshop CS5
CS3 & CS4
3. Set up the operating system (Windows, Mac OS X)
1. Setting the printers parameters

and 7. You can now set ALL your printer parameters here:Document properties (1): Paper Size and Orientation of the paper and the Advanced settings (7): Quality of paper (media type), Color profile, who's handling color management... etc... [In CS4 and below the Advanced Settings requester shows up when you choose the "Print" button.]
Set the position (margin size), and size of the image on the paper... Unchecking "Center Image" lets you scale the image on the print page.
Color Management... CS5 no longer give you the choice for choosing NO Color Management. On this page Adobe as delivered a print utility for Windows 7 or Apple OSx Snow Leopard for that purpose. Choose Color Management! And, choose your color management source Choose document if you DID NOT soft proof and made corrections to compensate for printer short comings!. Choose Soft proof because you did take the extra step to tweek your image for printing!!!

Photoshop Manages Color... that's why you got Photoshop in the first place...
Printer Profile... Choose the profile for your specialty papers here... It should match your Soft Proof paper Profile.
You may have saved different soft proof settings with different Rendering Intents... The print preview window will display your soft proofing choices...See #2
Print Prints. and Photoshop will remember you settings, so if you have changed paper type and size, you need to do step 2 & 7 first...
