SEARCHBRUSHES There are "millions and millions" of brushes available on the internet

Soft-hard Normally you think of a brush as being soft or hard, and the results you get when painting varies by how hard you pressed and the size of the brush. And, you paint with what ever color you dipped the brush into... Not so in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements!

Stroketumb-a The shape, size and color can vary... how the paint is applied can vary... Consider the Dune Grass Brush 112.

The Brush Settings Palette: Function Key F5
BrushSettingsPSThis is Photoshops Brush Settings, you can make the brush tip paint by varying 11 different settings.

When changing each setting, you can dynamically see the results in the display box at the bottom of the palette. shapeDynamics
You can change the shape of the brushes "nozzle" mirror the brush vertically or horizontally, and space how far apart the "paint" gets pasted on the page...

Photoshop Elements: Function Key F5
BrushdettingsPSE Much less control, and a vexing omission. You cannot "Mirror" or flip the brush vertically, or horizontally.

The work around is to paint on a transparent layer, make a selection of the area that you want to flip, and use

Menu: Image > Rotate > Flip Horizontal

There is no preview so you are guessing at what's happening...

So, you can make Dune Grass???
here's an example... Using Dune Grass to hide part of the photo...
SunFlower grass-1

Here's an example with several adjustment layers... and the layer's palette.

Sample2layers Brushlayers

The adjustment layers are grouped with the layer immediately below by 1: selecting the adjustment layer and 2: using the Menu: Layer > Group with Previous, or 2: holding down the alt key, and clicking the left mouse button when the hand turns to a set of overlapping circles...

The grouped adjustments are indicated by the arrow that points down at the layer below. They affect only THAT lower layer!

And Beards!
Just change the foreground and back ground colors... Match the hair colors using the "sampling Tool"

Change the direction of the brush to match the direction of the growth of hair on the face! Use layers to vary color, length and direction of the beards hair!

You could even make short non-curly hair!
