It's really about making a template...

Place Holder Image 1. When you have finished laying out your "main" page you can use it to build other pages for your web site without having to do it all that lay out again...Save the .html file as a template.  File > Save As Template... This changes the page you are working on to a .dwt file. Save the file with a recognizable name. In this case I'm saving the file as a aboutus.dwt file. Dreamweaver will create a File folder called Templates, if it doesn't exist and save your new.dwt file in it. I have saved this file as "aboutus.dwt"

2. You are now working in a template file. Now, select the area in the template file that you want to make an editable region. The menu item is:  Insert > Template Objects > Editable Region  or Ctrl+Alt+V (Windows) Command+Option+V (Mac). Name it! In this case it's "main content" Save the file using "File > Save" or Control S (Windows) Command S (Mac)

3. Now open a new file using the Menu File > New or Control N (Windows) Command N (Mac) and select
aboutus in the right window    (Page from Template > Site > Template for Site)   (highlighted in blue)File > New > .html

This conversation continues on the page called aboutus.htlm
