At 8:32 am on May 18, 1980, Volcano St. Helen's erupted with the force of the thermal energy equal to 26 megatons of TNT.
There were several other smaller out bursts after May 18, My dad visiting in July-August was enthralled with the eruption. When he saw it, he looked me grinning and said, I know what day is my birthday! He procalimed May 18! Dad didn't have a birth certificate from the Ukraine, as the records were destroyed during WW2, so he never knew the exact date!

My Mom, dad and siister, visited from Winnipeg. My father asked what the date was of the first eruption, he then joyously declared that his birthday was on May 18!
